No treats. Real communication.
Treats teach a dog to work for food. I teach a dog to work with you. A dog trained on respect doesn't need a biscuit to behave in a public corridor — because they already trust who is holding the lead.
In-home, 1-on-1 dog training across Singapore from a former Singapore Police K9 handler. No treats. No group classes. Single sessions from S$250 — the four-session package builds reliable, off-leash obedience for puppies and adult dogs alike.

The short version: DOGPAPA is in-home, 1-on-1 dog training in Singapore by Shawn K, a former Singapore Police K-9 Unit handler. Sessions happen in your home — your HDB flat, condo, or landed property — and the environment around it (corridor, lift, void deck, the parks you walk in). The method uses no food rewards and is taught to the owner so the obedience stays for the dog's whole life. Single in-home consultation S$250. Four-session Baby Puppy Class S$720 (under 6 months). Four-session Adult Class S$880 (6 months and older).
Most dog training in Singapore happens in a group class — a dozen owners at a central venue, a trainer demonstrating a behaviour, the owners practising. It works for plenty of dogs. But the corridor, the lift, and the void deck are different environments with different rules, and a dog only learns to handle them by training where they actually happen.
The DOGPAPA approach is different. Sessions happen 1-on-1 in your home and the environment around it. The method is built on respect and clear communication, not food rewards. The training is taught to the owner — by the end of four sessions you are the trainer, and the skills stay with you for your dog's whole life. That's why people search for dog obedience training in Singapore and puppy training in Singapore and end up here.
I don't train your dog. I train YOU to train your dog. Three ideas behind everything I do.
Treats teach a dog to work for food. I teach a dog to work with you. A dog trained on respect doesn't need a biscuit to behave in a public corridor — because they already trust who is holding the lead.
You live with your dog. I train you for four sessions. By the end, you are the trainer. The skills stay with you for your dog's whole life. No ongoing lessons required.
The principles that keep a Police narcotic detector dog focused under pressure also keep your dog calm when another dog walks past. The methods work because they respect how dogs actually think — not because they bribe them.
Single session for one specific issue. Full four-session programme for the whole method. Same approach either way — the pace adapts to your dog.
Single session, around 60 minutes. Assessment, problem-solving for the specific issue you booked for, and foundation training. The low-commitment way to see how I work with you.
For puppies under 6 months. Foundation, heel work, stay and recall, off-leash readiness. See the full puppy training guide for the in/outdoor work breakdown and vaccination policy.
For dogs 6 months and older. Same four-session structure built around fixing a specific issue while installing the full method. See the full obedience training guide for what each session covers.
Across puppies, adult dogs, rescues, and Singapore Specials — the same core method applies. The pace and starting point change. The principles do not.
Common issues:
The same principles apply to all of them — which is why owners who learn the method once can keep applying it for the rest of their dog's life.

Police dogs do not work for treats. They work for the relationship. The same principles that keep a working dog focused under pressure are what build reliable obedience in a family dog — and they are what Shawn teaches in your home.

A single in-home consultation is S$250 (around 60 minutes). The Baby Puppy Class (4 sessions, dogs under 6 months) is S$720. The Adult Class (4 sessions, dogs 6 months and older) is S$880. Packages save against single-session pricing and are valid for 6 months from the first session.
Group classes teach a dog to behave in a classroom. Private in-home training teaches the owner to handle their dog in the environment the dog actually lives in — the corridor, lift, void deck, and the parks you walk in. The skills transfer because they were built where they're used, not in a separate space the dog rarely visits.
Yes. The DOGPAPA Method uses no food rewards. A dog trained on treats listens while food is present. A dog trained on respect listens because they trust the owner. The training tools are clear leadership, body language, calm energy, and a long line — not a treat pouch.
Yes. Reactivity is one of the issues I work on most. In my experience, reactivity often comes from anxiety — a dog who doesn't yet trust their owner to handle the situation. Once you become the calm, clear leader, that anxiety usually softens. Every dog is different. If after our first chat I think your dog needs a vet behaviourist or a different approach, I'll say so.
Look at three things. First — what's the experience profile: certifications, hands-on professional work, or both. Second — what is being trained: just the dog, or the owner too. Third — where: a central venue, or the environment your dog actually lives in. Then ask one more question: does the method still work once the rewards stop?
In your home and the environment around it — your corridor, lift, void deck, and the parks you walk in. Training happens where the problem actually happens. Shawn travels island-wide across Singapore (HDB, condo, landed).
