"How much does dog training cost?" is usually the first question — and the hardest one to get answered.
Plenty of good trainers in Singapore quote per case, so their websites say "contact us for pricing." Fair enough — every dog is different. But if you're budgeting for a new puppy, or your dog's pulling has finally worn you down, you deserve a straight number before you message anyone. So here's the whole landscape, including exactly what I charge.
I'm Shawn — I run DOGPAPA, in-home dog training across Singapore, and before this I was a handler with the Singapore Police K-9 Unit, where I worked Narcotic Detector Dogs. Dog training is a family trade; my uncle trained both Singapore's Police K9s and their handlers for over forty years.
What dog training typically costs in Singapore.
Prices vary with format. These are the ranges you'll commonly see across published Singapore rates as of mid-2026 — individual trainers sit above and below them:
Group obedience classes — S$450–880 per course. Usually six to ten weekly lessons at the school's premises, covering basic cues, leash manners and socialisation around other dogs. The lowest cost per lesson, on a fixed syllabus.
Group puppy programmes — S$500–1,200. Puppy kindergarten-style classes: toilet training, mouthing, habituation, early socialisation.
Private 1-on-1 training — S$120–350 per session. A trainer works with your dog and you, often in your home. Single-issue walk-and-train sessions sit at the lower end, while established schools charge up to S$350 for a single private lesson. The price reflects that the whole hour is about your dog's actual problems, in the place they actually happen.
Behaviour modification — S$180–500 per session. Specialist work on fear, reactivity, separation anxiety and aggression, with multi-session programmes running to S$2,000. If that's your situation, start with dog behaviour training in Singapore to understand what the work involves.
Day school — S$90–150 per day. Drop-off programmes that combine daycare with training blocks. Convenient — though the trainer is training your dog, not you.
What DOGPAPA charges — exactly.
Single in-home consultation — S$250. I come to your home, anywhere in Singapore — HDB, condo or landed. About 60 minutes: assessment, problem-solving for the specific issue you called about, and foundation training. WhatsApp support between sessions is included.
Baby Puppy Class — S$720 for four sessions (saves S$280 versus four singles). For puppies under 12 months. Foundation, socialisation and recall before bad habits form — full details on the puppy training in Singapore page.
Adult Class — S$880 for four sessions (saves S$120). For dogs 12 months and older. The same four-session curriculum: Foundation, Heel Work, Stay and Recall, then Off-Leash — the full structure is on the dog obedience training in Singapore page.
Packages are valid for six months from the first session; most clients finish within two to three months. And if you'd rather test the water first, start with the single session — if you continue afterwards, I switch you to the discounted package rate as a returning client, so trying one session first doesn't cost you the savings.
Why my prices are published.
Because the first conversation should be about your dog, not about money.
When you message me, I want to hear what's going on — the pulling, the barking at the gate, the puppy that won't settle — and tell you honestly what I'd do about it. That conversation works better when the price question is already answered. You know the number, you've decided it's worth it, and we can get straight to the part that matters.
Ditch the treat.
Train a dog who listens
because they want to.
What you're actually paying for.
Here's how I think about the money, and you can judge whether it fits you.
Other trainers charge per session. I charge to make you your dog's trainer for life. In my sessions, you do the work — I teach you to read your dog, handle the leash, set the rules — because you're the one who lives with them. When the package ends, the skills don't leave with me. That's the maths behind the price: you're not paying for one session, you're paying to become your dog's trainer for life.
And there's no food bill afterwards. The method uses no treats — your dog listens because of the relationship, not because your hand is full. What you build that way doesn't run out.
Gear costs, if you want it.
The one optional cost on top of training is gear. I use handmade leather collars and leads in every session — they're the same ones I sell, and the prices are fixed: leather collar S$60, leather martingale S$65, 6ft leather leash S$85, 15m long line S$45. The collar-and-leash bundle is S$130, which saves S$15. Nothing obliges you to buy any of it — plenty of clients train with what they have.

How much does dog training cost in Singapore?
In 2026, group obedience courses typically cost S$450–880 for a multi-week course. Private 1-on-1 training typically runs S$120–350 per session, and behaviour-modification specialists charge around S$180–500 per session. I charge S$250 for a single in-home session anywhere in Singapore, S$720 for the four-session Baby Puppy Class, and S$880 for the four-session Adult Class.
How much does a single DOGPAPA session cost, and what's included?
A single in-home consultation is S$250. I come to your home anywhere in Singapore — HDB, condo or landed. The session runs about 60 minutes and covers assessment, problem-solving for your specific issue, and foundation training. WhatsApp support between sessions is included at no extra cost.
How much does puppy training cost in Singapore?
Group puppy programmes typically cost S$500–1,200. My Baby Puppy Class is S$720 for four in-home sessions for puppies under 12 months — that saves S$280 versus booking four single sessions. It builds foundation, socialisation and recall before bad habits form.
Are there cheaper options than private dog training?
Yes — group classes cost less per session, and for some dogs and owners they work well. The trade-off is that group classes train the dog in a classroom, around other dogs, on a fixed syllabus. Private in-home training costs more per session because the whole hour is about your actual problems, in the place they actually happen — and because I'm teaching you to handle them.
Can I start with one session before committing to a package?
Yes. Most owners start with the single S$250 session. If you decide to continue afterwards, I switch you to the discounted package rate as a returning client — so starting with one session doesn't cost you the package savings.
Are there any hidden costs?
No. The price published is the price paid: S$250 single session, S$720 Baby Puppy Class, S$880 Adult Class. I travel to you island-wide, and WhatsApp support between sessions is included. The only optional extra is gear — a handmade leather collar is S$60 and a 6ft leather leash S$85 — and nothing obliges you to buy it.
How many sessions does my dog actually need?
For a single specific issue — say, pulling on the leash — one session is often enough to hand you the fix. Most clients take the four-session class, because it trains you across everything: Foundation, Heel Work, Stay and Recall, then Off-Leash. Packages are valid for six months, and most clients finish within two to three months.
How do I find out what training my dog needs?
Send a WhatsApp message to +65 9813 2756 with your dog's age, breed and what's going wrong. I reply personally — usually the same working day — and I'll tell you honestly whether one session or a class fits your dog.
Know the price. Now tell me about your dog.
That's the whole cost picture — no surprises left. WhatsApp me with your dog's age, breed and what's going wrong, and I'll tell you honestly whether one session or a class fits. I train the owner, not just the dog — so what you pay for is yours to keep.
